Georgie & Gracie

Calling all SPECIAL HEARTS for a VERY SPECIAL SITUATION…

Please meet sweethearts Georgie and Gracie.  These babies are the beloved pets of a local senior couple, who, due to health issues, must move into assisted living and unfortunately cannot take their beloved pets with them.  These lovely, caring people have been a wonderful Mom and Dad to Georgie and Gracie for all of their lives, and they want to do right by their babies now.  Toward that end, they have reached out to us – and, yes, all of you in our community, for help.  We all know too well…there, but for the grace of God, … this could happen to any one of us… and, so, let’s work together to find a wonderful forever home for these two fur-babies…

Georgie and Gracie MUST remain together as they move forward into this next stage of their life.  They are 7 years of age, currently weighing in at about 18 lbs.  Both of these babies are as sweet and lovable as can be.  They know how to use a doggie door, and they also get along well with the family cat.  (In the pic, Georgie is on the left in the photo with the two of them in their Dad's lap, and Gracie is on the right.)

In terms of medical, they have received wonderful care throughout their lives.  They are spayed/neutered and are up-to-date on all their shots, as well as flea and tick preventative and HW preventative.  Gracie is diabetic, however, and her mother gives her insulin shots every day with no problems at all.  Gracie also gets her sugar levels monitored routinely at our local vet office; and we have been told by our vet that Gracie’s recent checkup went very well, with excellent results.  While Gracie will need insulin injections every day (along with routine sugar level monitoring), she is otherwise in great health, and so is Georgie.

These two are well-adjusted little dogs.  But their mom tells us that Gracie does get a little scared with thunder storms and strong winds, and will go outside during them only if her person puts her on a leash and accompanies her outside.  Otherwise, she will use pee pads.  Georgie is not afraid of thunder like his sister; so, he is not at all bothered by storms.

And, so, that is what we know about these two sweet little dogs.  For any of us who are devoted pet owners, we would not want to imagine what this lovely couple is having to endure in giving up their beloved pets.  We can all feel compassion in this situation – but it is also very, very important that anyone considering adopting this wonderful pair of sweet, loving souls knows that they deserve the very best, not only for themselves, but also for their wonderful parents who want only the very best for them.  If you are interested in wanting to welcome these babies into your heart and home, please, you must be SURE that this commitment is for life.

If you are interested in adopting BOTH Georgie and Gracie, go to http://www.safeatlast.net/.  Register and then log back on with username and password to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application.  Please be sure to fill out the application completely. Upon reviewing your application, we will contact you by email.  So, please be on the lookout for an email from lammvogel@yahoo.com seeking to set up a time to speak with you to commence the review process.  If we do not have a completed Safe at Last application from you in our system, we cannot consider you.  NO exceptions.

Thank you for considering welcoming these sweet babies into your heart and home and helping their parents through a most difficult, heartbreaking time.
